We know you care about supporting Deaf Parents and their families – now’s the time to show us how!
DPUK has been led by and supported Deaf parents since 2004 and continues to find ways to help Deaf parents and their families be even more successful and happy than they already are. What we want now is to match Deaf parents with good experience about raising kids with other parents who might want some advice, ideas or support – to find Deaf parents who use sign language to be Helping Hands for other Deaf parents. We need funding to make our idea happen and that’s why we’ve applied to the Aviva Community Fund.
Up to December 2018 the project will aim to recruit and train 25 Deaf adults as parenting mentors who will train and support 25 Deaf parents in need of support. The project funding will support the salary of a part-time coordinator who will:
· set up the training courses and recruit participants
· receive referrals
· match mentors with Deaf parents
· monitor and review the mentoring relationships
Aviva will be giving funds ranging from £1,000 to £25,000 to the projects that attract the most votes and capture the attention of their judges.DPUK needs your help to secure enough public votes to stand the chance of winning a £25,000 Aviva Community Fund Award. And by voting, you will make a hugely positive difference to the Deaf community.
Please cast your votes (you get 10) for DPUK before 21st November by clicking on the button below. Thank you – Remember you can give DPUK ALL YOUR 10 VOTES!
